QUALITY AND INTEGRITY MANAGEMENT

A quality and integrity (Q&I) management approach was integrated into the BPH in 2018 to promote scientific integrity in research. It is organised around a Q&I committee, composed of team managers, researchers and support staff.

The main objectives are to:

  • Raise awareness of research integrity
  • Promote integrity in research activities
  • Organise training for staff
  • Provide resources and tools to help researchers in their work

Initiatives:

Several training sessions have been held, covering topics such as bibliography, document and database organisation, regulatory aspects and open science, with a high level of satisfaction among participants.

Useful resources for researchers, such as publication guide, and a standard protocol template, have been developed and made available to staff.

In 2025, the management’s commitment letter was updated in order to strengthen communication, training and documents activities.

This revision also incorporates the review of how to optimize data management.

Regarding coordination with the Q&I unit, each team is asked to identify a Q&I representative. This representative’s role will be to liaise with the unit (answering questions and requests from the teams; providing information from the committee to the teams via the representative), thereby facilitating communication and monitoring initiatives.

All information and documents are on the internal network:

PREVENTION

Within the BPH, occupational risks are integrated into a continuous improvement process for working conditions led by the BPH Management, assisted by Prevention Assistants and the voluntary involvement of several staff members (Evacuation Officers, First Aid Responders, etc.).

The assessment and control of these risks (fire, musculoskeletal disorders, psychosocial risks, etc.) rely on tools accessible to all staff:

Prevention Action Plan – Risk Assessment Document

  • Identification, risk assessment, and annual monitoring of prevention actions

Safety register

  • Reporting of incidents and accidents at work and monitoring of corrective actions

These documents are accessible on the Intranet of UB/Vie à l’université/Sécurité et santé au travail ou via l’outil GPuC (Toutes les applications – Outils).

Inserm’s NEO platform available at https://neo.inserm.fr

  • Online safety training open to all, including new employees

Internal evacuation procedure in case of alarm – documents available on the internal network (>R > EQUIPES > BPH PUBLIC> HYGIENE SECURITE BPH-DSP-ISPED)

  • Evacuation instructions and plan coordinated by the evacuation officers

TRANSITIONS

Ensuring that research contributes to the environmental and social transition

Taking action and getting involved at our own level is the aim of the Public Health Transitions Committee, set up by the BPH and the public health community of Bordeaux. The aim is to help inform the public health community so that it can take action to reduce the environmental impact of public health research and teaching activities and work towards a plural and inclusive society.

The objectives are to:

  • Quantify (without stigmatising) our impact in terms of our carbon footprint and reduce our CO2 emissions by -…% by 2030
  • Inform our community about solutions and support them in changing practices that have a negative impact on the environment and society in order to massively and measurably reduce them.

EQUITY, DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION

BPH rejects all forms of discrimination and harassment and is actively committed to maintaining a supportive environment and ensuring equal treatment and opportunities for all.

The Centre has adopted an Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Charter and Action Plan based on values of equality, transparency and mutual respect. It addresses key issues such as preventing discrimination, harassment, while promoting inclusive communication and work-life balance.

Consult the EDI Charter

The BPH is committed to setting up an EDI committee whose objectives are to implement actions and to measure and continually improve practices through rigorous monitoring.
