Louis HEBRARD will defend his thesis in psychology, supervised by Prof. Nicole RASCLE, entitled:

“The role of optimism in Cancer Prevention and in post-treatment adjustment Following Cancer“

Louis HEBRARD has been a clinical health psychologist since 2021. I practise alongside my research work at the Ligue contre le cancer, as part of a protocol for managing post-cancer trauma, and as a self-employed family therapist.

This research, funded by the National Cancer Institute, was organised into three parts: the first aimed to validate a tool for measuring dispositional optimism in children in French and to replicate an experimental task on optimism bias in adults. The second part explored the roles of optimism and pessimism in risk-taking and preventive behaviours regarding colorectal cancer. Finally, the third part aimed to better understand how optimism and pessimism influence the onset and intensity of traumatic symptoms in adults following cancer treatment.
