THESIS DEFENCE : Mélanie BREMONT – 11/09/2026
RetourMélanie BREMONT will defend her PhD thesis in public health – specialising in intervention and health economics – under the supervision of Dr Linda CAMBO, entitled:
“Study of the conditions under which parenting support systems can offer ecological support that encourages parental empowerment.“
Mélanie BREMONT is a PhD student in Public Health at Bordeaux Population Health (BPH), where she is conducting her research as part of the APPIE-Village project.
Her research focuses on health promotion, social inequalities in health and public policies supporting early childhood. Her work focuses in particular on the first 1,000 days of a child’s life and support schemes for parents.
This thesis forms part of a realist evaluation approach. It aims to understand the conditions under which parenting support schemes promote the development of parental agency, from pregnancy until the child reaches the age of three.
Organised into several complementary stages, this research first enabled the construction of a theoretical framework based on a realistic international review, and then, through a qualitative multi-case study conducted across several French schemes, explored the mechanisms and contexts conducive to an ecosystemic approach to supporting families. Finally, in collaboration with practitioners and decision-makers, the research aims to produce knowledge transfer tools designed to support the development of public policies that are more conducive to early childhood development and to reducing social inequalities in health.
The defence (in French) will take place on:
