Pitch:

This presentation examines the evolving landscape of youth mental health literacy (MHL) and its critical role in promoting mentally healthy communities. Associate Professor Christine Grové and Dr Alexandra Marinucci draw on global policy frameworks and contemporary research to explore how MHL can be effectively supported across developmental stages from primary through to secondary years. The session showcases evidence-informed programs, digital tools, and the role of parents and teachers. While also critically addressing potential risks associated with universal, school-based approaches. Strategies to mitigate harm through proportionate, targeted, and co-designed interventions are discussed. Emphasis is placed on practical and responsive approaches to enhancing community-wide mental health literacy.
