Retour

Karine Pérès, a researcher specialising in the epidemiology of ageing within the ACTIVE-BPH team, and four other researchers are organising the mini-conference “Questioning the impacts of ageing on societies and economies. Global and comparative perspectives”.
It will take place during the SASE 2026 international conference in Bordeaux from 1 to 3 July

From 1 to 3 July, Sciences Po Bordeaux will host the 2026 edition of the annual conference of the Society for the Advancement of Socio-Economics (SASE 2026 Bordeaux 2026 | SASE Annual Conferences), an international event bringing together researchers from different disciplines such as economics, sociology, history, health and political science to discuss major economic, political and social changes.
In a context of geopolitical tensions, climate crisis, digitalisation and an ageing population, SASE 2026, entitled “Fighting Divisions: Conflict and Power in a Post-Globalisation Order”, is an event that explores the dynamics of conflict and power in our societies through plenary sessions, thematic mini-conferences, research networks, networking activities, as well as workshops for PhD students and early-career researchers.

Mini-conférence MC02 “Questioning the impacts of ageing on societies and economies. Global and comparative perspectives”

Among the many mini-conferences organised, session MC02, “Questioning the impacts of ageing on societies and economies: Global and comparative perspectives”, will address a major issue: the ageing of populations and its impact on the future of our societies.

Social protection systems, work, intergenerational balance: this mini-conference examines how these elements interact with other issues such as inequality, productivity or the capacity of states to act, with the aim of providing solutions to reconcile quality of life, work organisation and economic sustainability.

This multidisciplinary session is organised by four researchers, including a member of the BPH:

  • Karine Pérès, a researcher specialising in the epidemiology of ageing within the ACTIVE-BPH team; her work focuses on health trajectories, dependency and social factors such as isolation or living conditions.
  • Sébastien Lechevalier, an economist and professor at EHESS, a specialist in Asian economies and the links between technology and society; he is also coordinator of the international INNOVCARE project.
  • Matthieu Montalban, an economist at the University of Bordeaux, specialising in the transformations of capitalism, innovation and the health industries.
  • Ito Peng, holder of the Canada Research Chair in Global Social Policy; she works on the economics of care, social policies and global dynamics
