NutriLab: When sustainable food becomes a field of research

Retour

How can we turn our eating habits at work
into a collective and eco-friendly adventure ?

This is the challenge taken up by Nutri Lab, an innovative project led by Bénédicte Merle, a researcher in the BPH-LEHA team, and dietetics studentsMarion Sotto and Émilie Veiland.

They have developed practical tools to raise awareness and support the research and teaching communities at the University of Bordeaux in moving towards a more environmentally friendly diet.

This pilot project, supported by the Department of Public Health at the University of Bordeaux, aims to promote a sustainable, balanced diet that is accessible to all. This initiative is fully in line with the approach taken by the Transitions Committee of the Department of Public Health and Isped, which is involved in the project, to promote healthy and environmentally friendly eating habits.

Nutri Lab invites participants to explore food in a new way: by testing, experimenting, tasting and discussing key themes that will shape the food of the future.

Inspired by the world of laboratories and research, Nutri Lab offers a series of interactive workshops designed as genuine scientific protocols. The aim is to make nutrition accessible, practical and fun, whilst drawing on the latest scientific knowledge.

5 approaches to exploring food in a different way

Protocol 1: Carbon
Diet influences the climate: 2050 on our plates
Through an escape game, you’ll discover the links between food choices and environmental impact. A fun way to understand how everyone can make a difference in their own way.

Protocol 2: Protein
What if common misconceptions were wrong?
Blind tests, blind tastings and challenges: this workshop helps to challenge preconceptions about protein, compare the various sources available and explore new alternatives.

Protocol 3: Diversity
Every plant counts: target of 30 plants
Because dietary diversity is a key factor in good health, discover how to enrich your plant-based diet on a daily basis through games and practical activities.

Protocol 4: Decoding
Science or superstition? What science really tells us
Health, the environment, the budget, nutrition for athletes, children and older people… This workshop helps participants distinguish scientific facts from common misconceptions through a collaborative board game.

Protocol 5: Lunch Box
Putting theory into practice
During a hands-on cookery workshop, everyone puts together their own balanced, tasty and economical lunch box. It’s a chance to leave with some practical solutions.

A participatory experience

The Nutri Lab is based on a simple approach: learning by doing.
Each workshop encourages discussion, experimentation and collective reflection on sustainable eating, health and everyday habits.
Learn, try, take action
Beyond the knowledge you gain, the Nutri Lab aims to give you the tools you need to change your habits in a realistic and sustainable way.

Because nutrition is not just about guidelines; it is also shaped by experience.
