CRCN Inserm 2025 – Congratulations to Denis Rustand on his success
RetourDenis Rustand joined the BPH-BIOSTAT team in July 2025
as an Inserm research fellow.
After 4 years as a post-doc at KAUST University in Saudi Arabia, this biostatistician will continue his work here at the BPH,
, developing a research programme on statistical models for the joint analysis of complex longitudinal and survival data in healthcare
Denis Rustand obtained his doctorate in public health – biostatistics from the University of Bordeaux in 2020. His thesis, supervised by Virginie Rondeau of the BPH-BIOSTAT team and Laurent Briollais of the Lunenfeld-Tanenbaum Research Institute in Toronto, focused on the development of joint models for the evaluation of therapeutic choice in advanced cancers.
In 2021, he won the Norbert Marx thesis prize, awarded every two years by the Société Française de Statistique.
He then spent four years as a post-doc in Professor Håvard Rue’s team at KAUST University in Saudi Arabia.
In 2024 Denis was successful in the Inserm CRCN competition, a selective competition offering a position and funding to promising young researchers advancing biomedical and human health research. Since July, he has joined the BIOSTAT team at the BPH, where he will be continuing his work on a new research programme on statistical models for the joint analysis of complex longitudinal and survival data in health.
His professional interests include biostatistics, survival analysis, multivariate analysis and Bayesian calculations.
We look forward to welcoming him!
